Ok so we are what I believe to be two weeks into the writers strike now.For those of you who don’t know television and screen writers are on strike. They are striking for a couple reasons well one main reason money. The writers want to be paid a percentage for dvd sales and internet content sales. The companies Viacom, Fox, Nbc, Cbs and what have you are saying that the writers cant be paid for internet content because it hasn’t been determined what the profits if any will be from said internet content. I find that funny because Youtube is currently being sued by Viacom for One Billion dollars for giving away its content for free when they can be making money off of that content; but theres no money for the writers because they say they dont know if there will be money to be made on internet content. Kinda funny how Viacom contradicts itself there, well at least I think so.

Forget late night talk shows because those were the first to go once the strike started. Several popular tv shows are affected by this strike and we the audience are soon about to see those effects. Nbc’s heroes season two was supposed to be chapters two and three for the season now do to the strike the end of chapter two may be the end of its season.Some other shows that are impacted heavily are going to be the office, Bionic woman and oh yes you can now add family guy to the list as well Seth Mcfarlane has joined the walkout. I’m sure theres many more shows to be affected but I think I’ve made my point. Instead of season finales we now have an unheard Fall finales coming to us.

Both sides have their own points of view. In reality however this strike only hurts one group and its not the writers or the companies. Its the audience. We lose out on the entertainment. You know its easy to say I feel for the writers and that I believe they deserve what their demands to be met but you know what the writers are not average Joe’s like me and you they make six figure salaries and if not I’m sure they’re close to it.I’ll be happy once this whole thing is over and we can get it all behind us.
