So I decided to actually go through my school e-mail the other day. It’s something I don’t do to often, but I was waiting on a specific message. While waiting, I came across this:

“DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE SEMINAR WEDNESDAY MARCH 14, 2007 AT 8pm in HEALTH SERVICES
SENIOR PICTURES!!!
Tribute to Black Music, Tuesday, 9 PM, Performance Center”

Immediately, I laughed.

To me, if I was depressed and suicidal, the first thing I would want to go to is a seminar. I can feel the positive energy now. I’m sure it must be the happiest place to be. I mean, what suicidal person wouldn’t want to join a group of other like minded people? Maybe they can find out that they all have something in common, and enjoy that hobby together?

But if that doesn’t work out, IT’S SENIOR PICTURES TIME!!!!!! Woo-hoo! Nothing screams excitement like capital letters and exclamation points. As a friend of mine puts it “THEY EMPHASIZE EVERYTHING!!!” Of course, who wouldn’t be excited after the suicide seminar? Especially for senior pictures!

But apparently, my college isn’t to happy about the tribute to black music. That was the only thing in the entire article with no capital letters or exclamation points. They can’t even throw in a stupid smiley face. Tells you where there priorities lie.
