Top 10 Reasons I hate Mac Snobs

Posted April 20th, 2007 by Bryan Filed Under: Uncategorized

I am tired of hearing how great Mac’s are from all those macboys out there who swear that everything else sucks. I think it is time to open your eyes and realize that Mac’s aren’t quite as great as you seem to think. Following is my response to Anthony’s Top 10 Reasons for Being a Mac Snob

Edit:
This is not a “Windows is better than Mac” article… This is a “Mac isnt the greatest thing ever conceived” article.  This article is written on my Ubuntu 7.04 based laptop.

10. “You believe the get a mac ads between PC guy and Mac guy.”

Mac ads may be funny but thats about all they are. I laugh at them and then say to myself “Wow, Apple has nothing better to do with its marketing budget than bash on their competition.” I feel like they have a 5th grader writing their Ads. Plus, I don’t think that their Ad’s are always all that accurate. For example: First they blast Windows for being insecure… then they air another ad that blasts Vista for its User Account Control making it too difficult to use the computer. How could you criticize something and then criticize the fix as well - especially when OSX and Linux act the same way!

9. “You try to get everyone you know to buy a Mac.”

I hate when Mac guys try to convince everyone to get a Mac because they use the dumbest excuses. “You’ll never get a virus” is my favorite. I use Windows ad Ubuntu and I have never had a virus, trojan, adware, or any other malware on my any of my computers. To me it seems like your actually saying “Hey your an idiot and Mac’s are idiot proof!” Instead, why don’t you teach people why they shouldn’t download and install different things, or show them the right way to run programs, or hey maybe tell them to use Linux - There are a ton of flavors available that are just perfect for the new user and if they are gonna convert from Windows to something else anyway, why not make it a free solution that will run on any hardware?

8. “You believe Steve Jobs is your God and savior.”

Yes, Steve Jobs is a brilliant guy but wasn’t he sidelined by his own company? Didn’t his NeXT venture fail miserably in the consumer world? Yes, I know NeXT evolved into OSX but for all intents and purposes, they are two very different beasts. And Jobs did not create Pixar - he just changed the name from The Graphics Group, a company he purchased from George Lucas. It just so happened that the digital animation era was about to take off and Pixar happened to be involved in that. He’s done some good things but so has uncle Bill but Mac fanboys refuse to see that.

7. “You go into Apple stores just because you have nothing to do.”

The only reason Apple stores exist is because they would never sell anything if it weren’t in your face. Until recently, Dell had no storefronts and look at the billions Michael Dell has made. I guess if your product can sell itself, then you don’t have to sell it. Now I am not saying that their products can’t sell themselves, but obviously their sales weren’t doing too well without the stores. Now I walk past an Apple store and I laugh at the “geniuses” who probably couldn’t set up an Active Directory domain in a corporate environment or administrate an Exchange server or configure iptables but thats all fine and dandy because they can use iChat, woohoo!

6. “You believe the iPod to be the one and only true MP3 player.”

The iPod is a tough piece of equipment to argue with. I am no fanboy of any company and I held off getting an MP3 player for the longest time since my old car had an MP3-CD player. Now my new car doesn’t have that so I needed an MP3 player. I would have got myself a Zune but there is such a lack of accessories that I had to go with the iPod since it was the only device that had a cable to hook directly into my head unit, allowing me to use my steering wheel remotes. Mac boys - you win this one.

5. “You refuse to get an IT job that involves windows.”

Lets be honest now - If you refuse to get an IT job related to Windows then you essentially alienate yourself from IT as a whole because Windows owns the corporate environment. There are some jobs here and there who require Mac experience in addition to Windows but very rarely do you see a job opening for a Mac only place. If you are holding out for that once in a lifetime job then you may as well go get a job selling cellular phones.

4. “You believe your Mac as being the frontrunner for OSes.”

Mac OSX certainly isn’t the best OS. That isn’t to say that Windows or Linux is the best either. Really there is no “best” when it comes to Operating Systems. There is only what is best for each situation. Wanna run PHP and MySQL? You might wanna go with Linux. Need to set up shop in a corporation with user policies? You’ll most likely pick Windows. Do you want to have the cutest little laptop with a camera built in and do cutsey movie editing and brag to your friends that your better than them? You’ll probably pick OS X.

3. “Your mother always said an Apple a day keeps the doctor away, thats why carry your Mac around eveywhere you go.”

My mother always told me that an Apple a day keeps the doctor away and yet I still always got sick. Then the doctor would tell my mother to open some Windows and get fresh air to make me feel better.

2. “You use windows at your job but complain when something goes wrong, if you were using your Mac you would say this would never have happened.”

I use Windows and I use Solaris at my job. Guess what? Both work flawlessly. Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista all run on our network and they all work fine. They don’t crash. They don’t freeze. They aren’t infected with Malware of any sort. You know why? Because we know what we are doing. I know how to keep things running smooth. If you don’t take care of your BMW it is going to fall apart - does that mean that it is not as good as a Kia?

1. “You shun all other OS users as being inferior and incapable to understand the beauty that is Mac.”

Again, if you shun all other OS’s then you are an idiot and I guess you need an idiot-proof operating system (see #9). Also, if you shun everything else, you still won’t be landing a job any time soon. Windows guys and Linux guys alike can see the benefits to other operating systems but somehow you Macboys are so blind to the rest of the world. Its like owning a Mac is a cult. If Steve Jobs organized a mass suicide… I think you would all follow in suit.

I love Macs, but I use Windows, and you are RIGHT ON with this list! I just finished an exhaustive comparison of Macs v. Windows machines for three different purposes: home (with kids), home office (interfacing with Windows-oriented Fortune 500 co’s), and video editing. For the first two it was a no brainer (Windows: application options / cost). For the last there is SO much propoganda out there that the ONLY system to use is Final Cut Pro (which ONLY runs on a Mac.) Well, guess what, it’s like the days of WordPerfect v. MS Word. It’s what you like, and what you’re used to. The only REAL criticism Mac users have of an App like Adobe Premier (video editing) is that the interface is not intuitive. I don’t know, maybe it’s just a Mac thing. I find most Windows apps pretty intuitive, and have never had a problem going between the two worlds.

I guess it’s just how open you are to change, or difference. Now that’s a totally DIFFERENT rant.

Thanks again for this list!

@bentspoon Thanks, and you are right about the WP vs Word days, heh. Adobe Premier is a pretty powerful program, albeit not quite as pretty.

Resisance is futile, JOIN US!! Anyway what a waste of time and keystrokes, thanks jackass.

iam an idiot and i have a mac i love porn

iam an idiot and i have a PC i also love porn

Love the list. I’m in IT at my company, and the few Macs that are used in our publishing department give us as much headaches as all our other PC systems.

dman Gravatar

I like Macs but use PC’s equally, both with Linux and Windows, but I agree with the IT guy above. I also work in IT and our macs have always given us just as many problems (if not more) than our PC’s.

Hitler 4 Macs Gravatar

I agree with everything on this list, all of the amc users out there need to take their head and shove it up there ass, and take a good wiff. Macs are so far the most unreliable machines ever, we have 20+ macs, and over 15+ cameras, every time we need to capture using FCP the firewire port burns out (what happened to mass capability Apple) we can only get about half of the cameras to work with a few of the computers, its gotten so bad weve given up on Mac support. In fact, the “Mac Genius” who is supposed to be able to fix all of your Mac related problems never show up 9 out of 10 times.

ken Gravatar

Wow…have you ever used a Mac? I have used Windows computers for over 20 years….finally (after years of trying to make my computer do Mac things) I made the switch. Most of the stuff, about viruses, stability, speed, ease, looks) are right.

I hate to say it, but Macs just work. I now have three, each is heavily used all day, 7 days a week….they never crash; we never waste our time with virus programs, defrag, cleanup; there is never a need to reboot; the OS is rock solid and the software in iLife and iWork are incredibly rich with features that are tied into the system….there really is no comparison.

Sorry, but try it before you knock it.

ps. I laugh at the Mac commercials, but I cried at the Vista security one…it was TRUE! I had just upgraded to Vista….to be so disappointed I uninstalled it….and then bought Macs.

Vespah Gravatar

That is a load of crap, my uncle brought his macbook to my house and I tried to connect him to my wireless network and it froze 3 times, nice and sturdy there. There are also no good games for macs. You can make the argument of, “But boot camp runs windows”. At that point your mac just turned into PC, and a very overpriced PC at that.

OSX is based off linux which is mainly a PC os, so why is a mac more stable than a PC? As for windows, I agree 98 sucked but with the rollout of XP I have never had a problem with it. You can do just as fancy things with Windows as you can OSX, but on no mac comes with ilife windows comes with nothing. I got news for you Microsoft could make picture and movie software, but if they bundled it adobe would sue microsoft claiming they’re monopolizing the market because they own the majority market share.

pc lover Gravatar

hey great list! i think its funny how butthurt mac users get… i personally dont like macs and im 17 yrs old… i think if you need attention and you wanna show off then MAC JUST WORKS!!!

Karen Gravatar

I love everything on this list, your so right! I’m a student and live in a dorm environment and have the terror of Mac labs on my campus and theres nothing worse than going to class and having to deal with the Mac OS. Its awefull really, I hated dealing with it and finally got fed up mid-semester and started bringing my Dell Latitude to class with me, which sadly allows me to do more work than the rest of my classmates on the Macs. Even the professor sits in class and swears at the Mac he has to use, which is really just flat out pathetic. As a student, I equate to the artsy type Mac aspires to sell to, and I couldn’t hate them more. Thanks to buying two Dells, one desktop I use for my online business, and the Latitude I mentioned is mainly for class work and portability that my older desktop simply can’t do, the purchase price of both PCs combined, didn’t cost me half of what a single Mac desktop would have cost me, forbid buying a notebook. Secondly, not all software out there is Microsoft and while I’ve never had a problem with Windows XP Professional running on either computer, which I may add, are at least 5 + years old, but back to the point, I don’t need Microsoft software on either computer to provide all the services I use. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Mozilla software and hate IE. It sucks, there are alternatives to Microsoft that don’t require going out and buying a expensive, useless designer Mac that looks cute and pretty and gives people a excuse to snob my humble Latitude? To quote Mac in defense of my little laptop, “It just works!”

Thank you, thats my rant for the day…wonderful list, thanks for sharing on this topic.

Hey dude

I am an avid mac guy and this top ten is hilarious! I totally try and convince people to buy macs, and talk about how crappy Windows is. I’m totally dude!

I have used Macs at home for about 5 years. I’ve used Windows at every place I’ve every worked. I’ve had the least amount of problems with Windows XP. All the versions before that were awful. Crashing a few times a day. I just enjoy the layout of Mac OSX better then Windows XP. I’ve had much less problems with my macs then my windows. But XP has been pretty solid at work. But you just can’t beat the design and ease of use with a Mac.

But your top ten is funny!

Now go cry and wine about how Macs are getting popular. Haha

Ralph Gravatar

This is so typical of the PC culture. You guys are like some sort of weird leaderless cult. Even in the face of adversity, you just never give up.

1) My Mac NEVER crashes. Ever. Windows machines are crashing all the time and I hate to count how many times IT has to reinstall just to get it all working again. Unexpected system interruptions don’t last very long on a Mac, help to clear up ram and such, and the few times I’ve reinstalled OSX it’s been a good thing…almost like having a new computer.

2) Tabbed browsing. Ever hear of that? No need to open multiple browser windows. One browser, multiple tabs! Mac did that. Nobody else.

3) Cancel or Allow. The ads are right! Man, installing an ap on Vista is a huge pain. I get a pop up asking if I want to cancel or allow. How silly! At least on my Mac there’s a degree of security. It asks for authorization in the form of my user account name and password. None of this cancel or allow crap interfering with the installation process.

4) Speed. I’ve personally speed tested my Mac against XP. Opening Photoshop on my Mac takes about a 4 seconds. On XP…4.2 seconds!!! You can’t argue with the numbers. BTW: I got rid of the Photoshop PC crap and have gone for iPhoto instead. Superior in every way.

I could go on, but there’s just no point. PC guys just don’t get it. Mac’s are taking over. Accept it.

streamyourdata Gravatar

Wonderful piece of blogging, I truly enjoyed how you addressed the MAC-only IT jobs… I have yet to see them though mac freaks will hold out for them and seek them out as it they were gold.

I have news for you mac freaks, DOD, DOJ, DHS and INTERPOL all use Windows and Linux based units. The only reason any of them have apple products is to make certain you mac freaks don’t get too cute and try to do something stupid with your blind acceptance of the 1 OS/system fits all nonsense.

Please keep up the useless apple banter all you mac freaks, my day wouldn’t be complete without some Gen-X/Y retard spouting the same tired “apple/mac facts” to try and convert people out of a well thought out and well supported purchase. I love seeing you people all butt-hurt because most people have other opinions and they happen to not be apple-friendly.

Myles Twine Gravatar

This is directed towards Ralph… I’m Sorry but i think you’re a moron.

Tabbed browsing is in IE7 and has been on Firefox for years. WAKE UP buddy.

Cancel or Allow, OR Authorization by Username and Password are essentially the same thing.
YOU’RE STILL GOING THROUGH A PROCESS THAT REQUIRES USER AUTHORIZATION!!!!
and on both platforms, you can disable those security features.

iPhoto is in no way shape or form more superior then Photoshop. iPhoto maybe good for removing redeye for the average user. But Photoshop, i mean come on.
On top of that i find Adobe products run more stable on PC’s. Yes.. you read that right, Adobe products on my mac, and others at my workplace crash quite often. I have at least 2 application crashes per day. Especially Adobe Acrobat CS2 and Indesign CS2, Sometimes even illustrator. Photoshop is probably the most stable on mac. I have used adobe products on my PC during college for graphic design and I haven’t had near as many problems as I do at my workplace. Which when i started my G5 was brand new out of the box.
*Both were CS2 versions.

I also have to mention viruses… There are viruses for mac, they’re just unncommon because macs are uncommon when compared to the vast amounts of working PC’s out there. A good anti-virus like NOD32 (only $40/year) will keep you unbelievably safe. Security professionals have tested this product and found it out performs even Norton. I know there will come a day were macs will be caught totally off guard, because most mac owners do not bother with such applications. I have read an article were a security professional has stated that OSX has no fewer security holes then XP. They’re actually about the same.

What is happening to our society? Where people actually believe the dribble thats sprewing from big corporate ads? Oh microsoft hardly advertises at all so you can’t counter that by saying I’m wrapped around Microshaft’s little finger.

If you don’t believe me, do some frigging research.

Mac Rocks?! Gravatar

Mac Graphics and bright Brain really Rocks! Mac is the original, no matter what! Vista is a Cheater!

ralph you idiot Gravatar

Alright Ralph

1) My Mac NEVER crashes. Ever. Windows machines are crashing all the time and I hate to count how many times IT has to reinstall just to get it all working again. Unexpected system interruptions don’t last very long on a Mac, help to clear up ram and such, and the few times I’ve reinstalled OSX it’s been a good thing…almost like having a new computer.

System crashes happen on every system, both PC and Mac, if you don’t take care of your system, it won’t take care of you. I’ve seen brutal crashes on Mac while using the Adobe suites, on many of the computers in my school’s mac lab. If your Mac NEVER crashes and is so rock-steady, why have you reinstalled OSX multiple times?

The above comment is so stupid that I doubt its necessary to pick apart but just in case anyone is at all fooled by this, I’ll do so. “I’ve personally speed tested my Mac against XP.” you’ve personally speed tested a computer against an operating system? What the hell do es that even mean?
Did you even look at the specs of the two computers running the two OSes? You can’t just say “this mac opened a program in 4 seconds and this PC opened it in 5″ and have that be a valid argument for the speed of an OS.

“I got rid of the Photoshop PC crap and have gone for iPhoto instead. Superior in every way.”
LOL these two programs not even in the same category. superior in allowing a retard to remove redeye, as myles said, probably.

You are the epitome of a FANBOI congratulations you have fulfilled a stereotype. Don’t worry you won’t be very lonely.

I could go on, but there’s just no point. PC guys just don’t get it. Mac’s are taking over. Accept it.

I accept that you have no idea what you are talking about, advocating a system that you don’t understand.

bought a mac Gravatar

Just chiming in.

I just bought a mac a few days ago having been a pc user for most of my life. Don’t worry, I haven’t bought a black turtle neck and started worshiping Jobs. I like pc’s, they’re fine, but I have had my problems w/them in the past. It dawned on me that perhaps the reason crashes seems so ubiquitous for PCs is that PCs themselves are ubiquitous.

Anyhow, the mac I bought I think is going to be a solid machine for me. I like it and hope to have it for years w/o having to change too much. As mac’s popularity increases and interoperability follows (I hope), shouldn’t this be a good thing? More competition and more choice. Can’t we all just get along.

Tony Gravatar

You have 2 platforms Mac and PC obviously.
What most people dont understand is that Mac & Linux are virtually cousins since they are Unix based. Windows is Dos based which is a copy of Unix to begin with.
You Macboys say that Mac just works, well so does Linux and Windoze. The thing that sucks the most, what most people dont even realize, is that you spend so much money on your beloved Mac or Windoze system than you realize.
Linux is virtually free, along with thousands of free programs to choose from when choosing from the top distributions.
The Linux developers out number the Mac & Windoze developers combined. This is due to the large open source community that volunteer their time to create fixes and help other users, versus depending on some customer service dept. handling your problem while on hold etc..
Linux has come a long way in such a short period of time, and guess what, more people are getting tired of high cost products and software, as well as proprietary crap that Mac and Windoze create. They are choosing a Linux distribution as their OS of choice.
Why?
Well, a majority of Mac users dont know anything about their computer. Basically Mac Dumbs the computer user down. Loads of Mac users dont even know they have a terminal program in OSX, or even know what its for. They just like to click on pretty pics an the lovely GUI.
If you need help from a Mac User for a specific problem you most likely will get an answer from them to take it to the Mac Store to get it fixed.
Windows & Linux Users are more in the know than Mac Users for creating fixes for specific Network, and configuration matters as well as others. I can hear the Mac User now, “We Mac Users dont have problems with our software and etc…”
Guess what you are wrong. There are loads of problems, do a google search for mac Problems or errors.
A very successful Linux based Distribution which is 100% free to the user is Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu. These are all of the same flavor of Linux, only with a different desktop manager, and GUI, hence the change of the first letter (I use Debian/Sidux). You can order CDs directly from the Ubuntu website and have them shipped to you anywhere in the world for free including the postage cost (also available for Mac)! Easy to install in 6 steps and boom you have a beautiful full functioning OS. There may be a few pitfalls due to some hardware configurations, but this is where you learn and help others. Some people in the community are geeks, but no Snobs (like Mac), and they extend their best efforts to help others who have problems (which beats crappy customer service 1-800-Mac-Win-Sux).
In Conclusion,
Mac Hardware is expensive, software is limited and expensive, and customer support is terrible.
Windoze OS is expensive, and only supported through registered hardware, Loads of Viruses, have to purchase more software to enhance the system to keep it virus free, customer support is terrible.
Linux is FREE to download, or inexpensive to order online ($2 - $5), Thousands of free software to download (most a minimal download), Configuration can be a little pain, but this is where you learn how your system works. The largest community is there to assist you for support for the distribution you use, and many fixes have already been resolved.
The answer is a no brainer which platform to use.

Freddie Gravatar

I have a 15″ mac book pro, a quad processor vista machine, and a dell laptop running ubuntu 8.04 linux. They all suck. I’m installing OS/2 tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Sam Gravatar

I had no idea Mac users were snobs until one day while i was at a printing shop, a Mac user screamed at me for touching his ‘pristine’ screen. And I was his customer. Dude was nuts about how clean his monitor should be but his shop was a mess. Have a friend who’s pretty much a fanatic snob about his mac too. Always telling people that the Mac is way superior than a PC. God…I don’t hate mac but these users are complete utter snobs. What a turn off.

Bill Gravatar

I have to laugh. I just read` somebody saying that they timed Photoshop on a mac at 4 secs and on a PC at 4.2 secs. WOW!!! Think of all you can do with that .2 secs you saved!! I would rather pay less, get more and be able to upgrade if I want. I refuse to own anything with an i in front of the name. There are better, cheaper alternatives if you have a mind of your own and do a little searching

OS User Gravatar

I have to agree with all here, each has their own points, but here is my 2 cents…

NOT ALL SYSTEMS ARE PERFECT….ok…i said it…

I have used all the OSes thought out my life. Windows, Mac, and Linux and still do. I prefer Mac and here is why…

1. I am not living off of Bill. No, I do not have a job in IT (thankfully). To me, its like working on your own car. You have a dodge SRT-4. base model low cost, but if you want more horsepower you will pay. You add and add but it was not turned right and BANG!!! blown motor, game over… You have you PC you add, hack and tune, but if not right…fired motherboard costing you more time and money so you can say you have 100 FPS…But the point is the amount of money and trouble to get it to work and the upkeep, not worth it in my book…

Macs are tuned for the components they come with, so no need to tweak or overclocking (but wait you can!!! go here http://www.xlr8yourmac.com)…so why build the dodge neon when you can get a dodge viper? So yes I pay more, but I have a workhorse that will last (not one complaint here about they still work after years of use and resale value {ex. Neon (200 hp) vs. Viper (600 hp)}) what would you buy new or used?

2. I now have a machine that will run all of my favorite OSes! So now I can code, play, hack my hearts content on ANY OS I WANT on ONE MACHINE! Now, x86 hackintosh will allow you to do that now, but you still need to learn UNIX.

3. Lower long-term cost. So, why is the Europe and the US and state government(s) going to UNIX. Let see…You do not need to pay for it(Linux), you are not outsourcing to raise cost>by the way, that is you IT GUYS working on windows

OS User Gravatar

has. update to vista it will cost you, update office, it will cost you…

Mac uses will pay 130 buck for a new operation system and do not have to buy it-thats right..those machines that these IT guys talk on here might still running on OS X 10 or 10.1 or 10.2, hell OS 9…OK, lets talk about cost over savings here… they bought them machines for a premium back then and they still work. I am sure they are still doing the job. so have a machine like that in an office for 5-8 years and still producing, sounds like they have paid for themselves a few times over because you do not have to buy new hardware for the computer, software, and remember Mac was the first to run dual processors 8 years ago.
Buy a mac that is 5 years old and update to leopard without a hitch…try that Win boxes…

4. Intel, Intel, Intel…I would like to thank IBM for the standards they created. IDE, DRAM, and PCI and now Intel. Mac has benefited for these standards, so you can get a hard drive off the self and drop them in. Old schoolers, listen up, they do not use SCSI anymore…sounds a lot like HD DVD or Blu-Ray… this fight has been over for years now.

5. It is true, Macs just do work. The never crash! I have to restart mine because I want to not because I have to. I HAVE NOT UPKEEP!!! no defrag, no virus scan or updating, no validating every update, no Internet explorer!!

OK they do not have a lot of games. so don’t buy one, egg the nearest Apple store, gag at the sight of Apple, scream at us the next time we use my iphones (not bad for the first UNIX handheld), have nightmares about the grey apple popping on your LCD’s, run like hell.

Bill Gates is a very smart man, You follow him like a puppy as well…

This is why this country is so great, freedom of speech and freedom of choice…

XXX Gravatar

I have learned many things in my life, that Mac users would never appreciate others work, that Mac users are hypnotized (may be on drugs 24×7), and Mac users would never compromise and accept their defeat. The reason I don’t like (not hate) Macs is because they work as it wants to and not as I want it to work. I feel it is not customizable. Other reason I don’t like Macs is because after using Mac for Just over 3 months my brain wend dead, my thinking power was lost and when I switched back to Win/Lin I felt as if I was back home. The only thing I like about Apple is the design and hardware which I would never buy.

leysin Gravatar

Ease of use with a mac, you must be kidding. I like free stuff like most people, so I bittorrent a lot of stuff. Finding free software online for a mac is hell, cause nobody wants to make anything for it. Why is that??? and for a simple user that doesn’t know much about computers, installing BootCamp so that you can use Windows on your Mac is not easy to do. There’s a 14 page handbook you need to download just to be sure your doing it right. Mac sucks cause its not compatible with shit thats out there that is free or cheap to get. Its a waste of time, plus its a bitch to upgrade unless you shell out more money for the next new mac model.

Well, this is the most stupid and pointless article that I have ever read about this topic…

I don’t consider myself a “macboy”… but I’m a mac user…

What stupid reasons are those that you expose here: the MAC vs PC adds, the Steve Jobs si god thing, apple stores, apple and your mother (WTF?!?!)… anyway! all your reasons are only crap! you don’t talk about the performance of the system, or the requirements and caracteristics… you’re only talking about cliches… pre conceived ideas and bullshit!

I’m user of both plataforms, and I only say that Windows is a lot more problematic than MAC OS X, maybe you’re the only human that doesn’t have virus in your PC, but more than 140.000 virus per year of Win Vs the 4 Virus in 6 years for mac speach for themselves… Maybe you have all the knowledge that allow you to protect your machine, but is insane to pretend that you must go and do degree in Informatic Engineer in order to prevent your PC to crash… lets face it! not everybody has that kind of knowledge , and they doesn’t have to if you do a quality product!!!! The IT people must be very pleased with microsoft, thanks to them they have A LOT of work to do!!

Other true thing is that the PC needs to be updated more often that the macs, try to run a Vista without put more RAM or improve the processor, but I know people that have the PowerPC Macs and run leopard without problem… and in the programs department, maybe you don’t have thousands of thousand of applications, but I never have a problem to find an application for any need that I have, and the best part is that it works! not like in the win applications deparment, you have thousands of them, but in the end a lot of them are just crap! and even if you don’t find an especific application for MAC OS, you can run windows easy on the mac, Bootcamp is really easy to use, and you allways have virtual machines like Parallels or VMware, that even allow to run win and Mac OS at the same time… so, what’s the problem? all the win universe is right there for you… all people talk about “I can customise my PC”, well, If you want a PC that looks like a Nascar car, with every single component made in a different place of the world, from indochina to la paz, and go crazy with drivers, and in six months you put more power and more cards and in the end you have to put your PC in a freeze with a lot of ventilators… then go ahead! be happy and go crazy!!!

The thing is that a PC works, but has a lot more problems than the Macs… if you want all that crap on your life, that’s your call… and be happy with the Blue Screen of Death and formatting and reinstalling every two or three months… but don’t tell me that MAC’s are bad because your mom said that you must eat an apple every morning or because you think that the Mac adds are stupid… I know that Macs aren’t the best thing in the world! every systems has pros and cons, and I accept valid arguments! but all that you have is pure crap…

Well i am confident that a hacker or a virus programmer would never waste his time in programming a virus for mac as that would affect only 10-20 % (could be far less than that) of mac computers. Thinking logically, i would do the same. And also, windows crashes mostly because of hardware drivers/3rd party software (As more hardware is available and more users use windows).

XXX Gravatar

When it comes to mac usage I use Mac and I find Linux/Windows more interesting that a “MAC”

XXX Gravatar

And finally when it comes to upgrades/updates
Upgrades (Hardware) You have to chuck a Mac in a bin or may be shit hole
OS Upgrade Microsoft offers a completely new OS
Mac polishes/adds 3-4 new features(really useful) and around 500-100000 so called features which include new shortcut key and may be a new icon or a new word in dictionary (to which mac users go crazy)

I run a small graphic design company mainly using pc’s constructed, maintained etc by me. I also have an imac. In my point of few there are two kind of mac users and a whole lot of windows users(PC’s are cheap and almost every home has one) who got stuck using windows so much they cant adept to other interfaces/OS’s. Now back to the two mac users if you bought it for the elegance or whatever spend your money elsewere please dont tell stuff you dont know jack about(same goes for PC users who have no serious experience with a mac)………..

Dell has commercials, HP has commercials the rest of the pc businesses has them aswell since they run for lets say 90% on windows they dont need to point out the flaws in the OSX of mac os. But apple likes to come with an one package deal and has loads of PC companys to compete with. So if apple makes a commercial about pc versus mac you could

A: laugh about it knowing better that its alway the users computer experience

or

B: be ignorand and start foaming at the mouth and blame mac for being shiny

Dont forget you can screw a mac up just as easy as a PC anytime! anyday!

BTW my Ipod rules with my car stereo

Am I really the only person out there who doesn’t think that Macs are all that attractive? Am I the only one who’s tired of being told that because it’s, yes, sleeker than most PCs, it’s automatically beautiful? But then so much of Mac’s ad campaigns seem to be based around telling me that this is what I want, because it’s better and cooler, and how silly of me to have ever thought differently.

just ask to apple what kind of the sytem they used when they make apple products

I’ve been a PC user forever, since 1986 when I became the resident ‘expert’ on our three PCs….in an accounting firm. I became the ‘expert’, because it was so damn easy to figure out what was going on! And to become the ‘expert’, I NEEDED to be able to figure it out….directories, networks….even a newb like me could figure it out.

I’ve long since NOT been an expert….it wasn’t my main thing and other people knew more. But I still know what’s going on with my PC and how it fits in the network. My experience is that Mac people don’t. They say “every Mac is a file server’. Uh. No it’s not. Not like a PC network file server.

I recently became employed in academia, in a group of people who SWEAR on their Macs. Their idea of archiving is to….save everything on a DVD. Requiring every single lab tech, grad student, postdoc and yes…faculty, to save everything to a DVD.

Well, the Mac fileserver crashed….and we were all out a whole WEEK…because they weren’t using the fileserver as a fileserver should be used. There were no Backups, and no one could access the data because the Mac fileserver was so proprietary. Geez. It seemed pretty primitive to me. We’ve had that crappy Mac fileserver for three years (THREE YEARS), and they couldn’t figure out how to do a backup.

As a PC user, I can accept that Macs are better at some things, and in my current environment, they certainly have advantages.

But Mac users cannot seem to accept that their systems have limitations. I can. It seems to me a bit nearsighted and narrow to be so dedicated to one platform and be totally ignorant to the advantages of another.

In academia…these people are supposed to be brilliant. Um, they seem to be a bit closeminded in this area. Great minds at work….

I’m a pc user, and i have nothing against Mac’s. I mean they look nice, but that’s about it. the thing that annoys me is the fact that Mac is so expensive in comparison to any other PC, I did a comparison (I’m building a computer right now) I selected the component that I wanted on a local PC stores website, I then went on to Apple’s site and chose very similar parts (not exactly the same but close) the PC I built cost me $3300 AUS, on apple that very similar machine cost $7,700 AUS, almost double. Fanboi’s piss me off too, they just are ignorant people who are too stupid and lazy to not believe every thing they read and see, or to even consider any other option apart from a product from Apple. Also software downloadable from Apple are annoying, why cant I JUST download Quicktime, no Apple, being the nuisance that it is forces me to download iTunes as well (if your smart you could just download VLC player, smaller and less annoying). I want to write more but there isn’t enough time to talk about all the annoying things about Mac’s and Apple. A final note: though I’m an avid Windows user, I like Linux because it is not annoying, its not an ordeal to the same thing that I do on my Windows XP computer on a Linux computer. Also Linux is free and does not charge like a wounded bull.

Here is the story:

Windows users are happy and comfortable with Windows.

OS X users really love their operating system.

OS X user take every chance to show off their features, in a way how a big dog loves to lick his thing in front of everybody else.

Windows users love to defend it like a guy who is defending his 4” thing, which he makes into 8” by adding 3rd party apps.

So please move on.

mr. t Gravatar

I loved your list, it reminded me of my mac-obsessed boss. Im a web developer at a newspaper and she is the “New Media Director”. One would think that would mean she is making big decisions, has a lot of design and programming experience, you would be incorrect. Shes basically my secretary. She sits and pounds the keys on her Mac, checks her email, asks me how things work, or what I am going to work on next (so she can email our superiors). She is completely unaware of her position, she thinks shes getting “A TON” of work done pounding the keys in her chat program and keeping Thunderbird maximized on her screen. She lives in her own little self-centered Macintosh world.

Are all mac users like this?

Mac users also set them self apart by owning a Toyota Prius, StarBUCKs coffee card and an iPhone. They need to fit the ‘intellectual’ mold. (ww.obamawindbag.com)

Mac’s are awesome for recording and mixing music in my experience. But My nice happy PC is better in every other way for me. I have worked on both and the mac always gives me that strange “toy” feeling. You know what I mean? It’s like those fake computers you buy for your toddler. They come with a big clunky one-button mouse and bright colors. yeah… Even the Mac commercials are childish. It really says a lot that they would choose that same weenie actor to represent their “cool guy.” Isn’t that the guy from Jeepers creepers? What a chode. Yes I said “chode.” It still has it’s proper uses.

i recently found my two first computers an old apple 2 and an old dinosaur with windows 3.1 on it forgot i even had them i remember they worked when they were storedso i brought them down from the attic and and hooked them up to my great dissapointment the apple two didnt work but time had taken its toll on the pc the monitor was dim so i turned off my light and began looking through the files that was a week ago.

I love this article. :)
The two things that stuck out to me in the comments:

“Macs never crash. PCs do.”
Ha… This makes me laugh, as it just proves that you Mac users have no idea of how to use a P.C. Macs make simple things hard: that’s that. Ever tried to create a plain text document on a mac, within a minutes of installation finishing? Your so called “text editor” makes stupid formatted documents. Useless.
And BTW, in my decade or so of using PCs, they have only crashed once or twice. Why?
Because I was messing with the registry/BIOS. Meanwhile, in the less than two years that I have tried a mac, it has crashed over 10 times: applications freeze and re-open, freeze and re-open…

“PCs need antiviruses.”
Yeah, because the majority of users are PC users. Mac has only, what, 10%? And tell me, what Fortune 500 company bases the majority of their system on Macs?

And the funniest of all:
“Apple invented browser tabs!!!”
Ever heard of Opera? If you call Safari a tank, then Opera is a Jame’s Bond car from the future. First of all, tabs aren’t even enabled in safari by default, while Opera had this feature for so long I’m not sure when it started. Shows how little you fanboys/girls venture out of the Mac world.

So shut up fanboys, and actually TRY windows for once, NOT IN BOOTCAMP.

Socrates Gravatar

Whether they are Macs or Windows PCs or Linux PCs, I think that systems tend to crash more when the applications and OS that they are running uses up more resources then the machine is able to give. When software and operating systems are “upgraded” they end up needing more resources. So you eventually have to get a new machine, or stick with the old operating system.

That’s why I hate both Mac and Vista, because both of them waste so much computer power on stupid things like bouncing icons and translucent windows. I’ll stick with XP for now since it came with my machine, and I’ll go for Ubuntu before I upgrade to any more Windows OSs. I’ll would never buy a Mac. Not enough bang for your buck.

I’m also a student in graphic design, and while everbody in that world insists that Mac is the standard for design, that’s not true. The standard for design is Adobe Creative Suite, which is available for Macs or Windows with all the same features and capabilities.

Doir Gravatar

good one! you know what, MAC USERS ARE DUMB. that’s why they don’t have any ANTI-VIRUS software on their overly EXPENSIVE PC’S. YOU KNOW WHAT, MACS ARE JUST GLORIFIED PC’S. they are MACS on the outside but have the GUTS of a PC. well in windows world you have to work hard. you think you’re so wealthy but too bad, the rest of the world aren’t!! i’m TRYING TO SWITCH TO A MAC BUT SINCE ALL OF YOU SNOBS ARE DUMB-HEADED HEIRESSES, THEN YOU JUST LOST A SOON-TO-BE MAC MEMBER. SAY THAT TO YOUR MASTER’S FACE!

I have a mac book pro 17, a great and cute machine, but i didnt like mac osx. Install things is far better than windows and the computer start and close quick, but in the everyday use, windows is far better, a lot more of options and posibilities of configuration.

Especially when you run a lot of programs and folders at the same time. And I really detest work with photosop, viewing the finder at the background…

Im not a fan of vista, but xp runs great, far better than mac osx

Mac doesn’t exhists. I own windows vista, i own osx. On the same pc. Yes. Mac simply doesn’t exhists. Mac is a pc like any other. Its price is double of any other pc. Quality of apple? Mine is an Hackintosh. Benchmark tell it’s far better than original apple’s ones. And its price is the half. Why?

And i continue to love Vista…

This makes me laugh, you Mac users. Sorry, but you really are Idiots. A Mac runs best with Linux. I am a Linux and Windows admin and I’ve used Macs. The only advantage to owning a Mac is about equivalent to owning a Dodge Charge, cute car but it sux azz. Mac is catching up to the game, still has no real servers (corporate) and is too damn expensive. If I owned a Mac, the only software that would be useful to me would be the same softwares I run on Linux, so I own a PC, run Windows (only when I have to) and 8 versions of linux and 4 versions of BSD. I flawlessly use virtual machines. I do graphics and music (the only reason, really, to run windows - photoshop and reasons are some of the best).
I have not found one real reason to run a mac. Mac does hang, so do all OSes have a potential hang.
I would like one of you MAC fanatics to convince me in to buying a Mac. I don’t wanna here about it graphical appearance and composition effect, Linux wins hands down, check out Compiz Fusion.
I need it to be able to do for me what Linux or Windows, or anything productive that it can do better, Video Production is not a valid argument, Vegas is just as good as FinalCut.

P.S. Screw Mac, worthless piece of ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a dual Xeon workstation multi-booting the following: XP Pro 32 (stripped with n-lite) , Linux Studio 64 , Windows 7 beta , and Mac OSX Leopard. Although support for all the different hardware combinations are limited at this point for OSX , as proof of concept , MAc OSX runs well on a PC , thereby blurring the line between all the different platforms. And even after trying out all of these OSes one physical machine , I’ve come to the following conclusions:

XP Pro 32: Most compatible. Easy workflow
Linux Studio 64: All freeware , stable
Windows 7 beta: Resource-intensive but VERY pretty (fixes most Vista problems)
Mac OSX: Incredibly easy to use (almost like a child’s toy really). Not as pretty as Windows 7. Some annoying things: Closing a program doesn’t really close the program. Minimizing a window minimizes the window , not the program , and maximizing the program maximizes the window you just minimized (!?).

seth Gravatar

I’m a PC user by choice and a mac user at work(graphic design) and I have to say that I find using adobe cs3 a lot easier on the mac. As for the stability issues on the mac, I have two issues. 1. Some days the mac will not start without us unplugging the mac then it starts great.(This is on all of the macs in the department) 2. It crashes all adobe programs about two times a week. On a personal side I run window xp pro and will not be moving from that till windows 7 is running smoothly.

I find that if you spend $100-$200 a year on hardware for a pc you will always be running a pc that can handle all the new games/OS’s.

Oh and as for security on a pc, just surf on a guest account with no privliges and you will never get a virus(I’ve done this for 3 years and am still virus free).

People I beg of you learn how to use your OS the right way and you will not have any problem no matter the system.

Xavier Gravatar

Each user will have a different experience for whatever reason, their choice, their education, their experience with one - the other - or all OSes, their sense of worth or ego, and their willingness or resistance to learning/using things in the best manner for that thing.

And so many just want to make it religious, they don’t want to say otherwise. They’ll say something sucks or is great just because it fulfills that agenda to say so. They won’t admit that forums and boards exist for their OS detailing horror stories and real issues galore, but bash another OS readily. I don’t care what system I use, as long as I have the education and tools to use it to the best, and laugh when others start a fight over theirs. Really, does it win a prize, or better yet, win converts? It doesn’t make friends, and more likely enemies . . so what’s the end goal bashers?

Lon Gravatar

Mac lovers are elitists.

That’s pretty much the only reason they pay more (sometimes 2x the price) for a computer that

does the same things.

They say: ‘You’re paying for the experience’ or ‘It’s the design that matters’ (which all Mac

users say-at least in their mind) pretty much shows this arrogant - elitist attitude quite

blatantly. That is also the reason they fight so hard to defend their beloved Apple, even when

being screwed over worse than anyone else in the computer market.

You see, Macs are childrens computers. Anyone with the mind set of a 3 year old will have no

problem with their Mac.

On the technical side, one thing Mac users are getting that makes any difference is the

overpriced operating system - which they worship like brainwashed nazis. ‘All kneel to the

mighty OSX…’ But really, most of them don’t even know what ‘OS’ stands for, or what it is for

that matter. So of course, what they don’trealize is they can get the same performance out of

Linux PC, if they are willing to accept the same compatibility problems they have on their

Macs.

Macs really have just as many problems, driver errors, hardware failures as PC’s. PC problems

are just advertised more because OVER 90% OF THE COMPUTER USERS ARE MS PC USERS.

Viruses only hamper PC’s because of the number of people that use them. Use Ubuntu or Linux and

you’ll have the same ‘non virus’ effect on a PC.

Not to mention, the number of websites and applications that Mac does not support is

ASTOUNDING. But Mac users just avoid them, and think all is well.

People use ‘they last much longer’ as an excuse for price. The main reason they last longer is

that Mac users typically use them to surf the net, watch movies, or play with photos - and

thats it. They do not care about the specs of their computers, because of how little they do

with them. PC users are Gamers, Workers, Hackers, Techies, Designers, Architects, Engineers,

and Artists that need to upgrade often (and for the most part inexpensively) because they need

to constantly update to keep up with the ever changing software requirements, for the thousands

of applications they are using. That will never be the case on a Mac.

I could be using my windows 98 Acer today if I didn’t care about 50% of the applications I use,

but I do, so of course I have upgraded multiple times since then (which upgrades probably cost

less in total than buying a new imac today with sub par specs).

‘Macs run Windows Vista faster than PC’s’ is a common excuse for quality. Unfortunately that

has been disproved over and over now. Just look it up.

In a nutshell, don’t you think there is a REASON that 99% of Mac users have both OSX and

Windows installed on their systems? And this after spending twice the price of a PC.

Here is a common issue that has been seen in the Mac community lately, and more than just a few

times. I have 3 friends (appletards lol) that went through something similar. Kinda makes me

laugh when they try to convince me that this kind of thing never happens.

Google search ‘imac problems’ and you’ll see a mirad of similar situations. (by the way I have

never experienced problems to this degree on a pc, though I’m sure it has happened)

“Hey Everyone,

Finally got my 24″ 2.8ghz Imac a week back. But ever since day one, i have been getting

problems problems n just problems that are eating my head up. Heres how the list goes..

1. After running the setup assistant on the first day, i inserted a fresh mp3 disc, loaded a

song in itunes, after a split second a curtain like animation thing happened on the screen n

asked me to restart the mac. Reason: Kernel Panic error which i got to know in detail after the

machine rebooted! Called up Applecare, they explained in detail. Then they helped me reset the

Ram n test the hardware. All done, no problems detected.

2. Next day, I was changing wallpapers when all of a sudden system preferences got stuck n

machine asked to reboot again. Reason, Kernel Panic again. This happened twice thrice, i called

up applecare again, reset the pram, things settled for the moment. but all this had already

rattled the initial experience of using the Mac.

3. Today, the place from where i got my mac sent in an engineer to help me set up my net.

Luckily that fellow got the 10.5.3 update with him n installed it then n there. I have a PPPoE

ethernet connection which requires a username n password to log on. Now i put in all the IP

details n dns entries n all, but still the Mac gave the error authentication failed all the

while. Even the engineer couldnt figure out why and what do. We tried all network diagnostics n

assist me features, but still couldnt connect. Any reason why?? I badly need help here.

The next day i called up Apple care and even they couldnt solve the problem again, they made me

reinstall OSX, which i did n even after then, the same problem persisted. what could be the

problem???

4. I installed Perian n VLC media player to run some .dat, .mpg and .wmv video formats. One big

problem here is all the videos get scrambled into pixellated blocks in between or while pushing

them forward! i mean this is crazy. whats the reason for this?? And for some videos VLC quit

unexpectedly giving a Kernel protection failure error. (what the crap??!!!)

heres a screenie which should explain:
[img=http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/3684/picture2dk6.th.png]

5. Last but not the least, whenever i try to delete something by cmd+ delete, it simply doesnt

work. now is this a keyboard error or something else??

I am at my wits end and just dont know what to do with these problems. Can someone help me out.

Replies and suggestions will be highly highly appreciated.

Warm regards.”

And a special note for ALL MAC USERS TO MEMORIZE:

If you are a MAC user, read the following, memorize it FOR THE LOVE OF GOD….

“Mikeythekat :

Mac’s are simply over priced crap. I have personally built a ASUS laptop with a AMD processor

running OSX that spanks the living day lights out of the Mac books and the Asus laptop cost

less that $700. Why would I want to spend an extra $1300 to have a “Mac”? Oh thats right,

people want Mac’s because they are trendy looking and want other people to see it and say “wow,

that guy/girl is cool because they can afford a Mac” Thats just lame. Get this, I took my Asus

laptop to Starbucks after I built it and sat down amongst the Mac users and turned my laptop on

intentionally at the same time as one of the new Mac books the other guys had and you should

have seen their mouths drop open and their jaws hit the floor when a non Mac computer for one,

was loading OSX and 2, loaded OSX a good 30-45 seconds faster. I was asked how I got OSX on a

non mac computer and just had to say that I’m smarter than the average mac yuppie.

It all comes down to Macs are a stupid status symbol and the feeling of being better than

someone else because you have a mac. Just the same way people that drive BMW’s feel when they

see someone driving a old Honda accord.

People need to get off their high horses and think about what they are buying and buy something

because its worth it, not becuase of how “cool” you will look with it.

Mac users are lame and are only good for kicking.

Be smart and buy a PC, besides, with a PC you actually have a selection when it comes to

software! Imagine that, if Mac’s are so great, why is there literally 1/2 a shelf of Mac

software to buy?”

great unbiased article. people think that if you own a mac, you’re already a demi-god. i’ve been having troubles with the G5 here in the office, slow start-up of windows programs & adobe acrobat. especially with font loading, gives me a head ache when it cannot find the fonts i’ve installed so i have to restart my illustrator and indesign again just to recognize the fonts again.mac is reliable in that “virus-free” thing but then again, it also have its flaws. i love the style and design but i hate its inefficiencies in some manners.

Apple is nothing but a pricey fashion statement for f’wits who need an extra little something to boast about.

I know a shit load of people with little *they have some* artistic talent that feel they have to buy a mac because its “The creative computer”. GET F$%$ED the piece of crap sits there in your office/house/lap and all you do is browse the internet. Yeah that 2 grand you just spent for a mac you cant upgrade sure did the trick in inspiring your creative side.

Theres a key point about Mac users who arent doing video editing:
There retards. Pure utter morons, i get so many customers buying macs because ooh there windows is too slow or waahhh they got a virus. Well maybe if you stopped searching the net for porn or installing every piece of crap software you dont need then there wouldnt be a problem.
Connected is the fact that yeah Mac’s dont have an arsenal of programs like windows does, thats a reason it might not slow down as much.

And hey if your PC is slowing down, then your too stupid to own one. buy some ram, do a defrag, stop being morons.

And as for your MP3 player point, yeah for a car ipod might be a nice solution, but for your pocket any Mp3 player with insertable data *MicroSD/Sony Memory stick* will come out far cheaper and with alot more storage.

I own both a macbook pro and a gateway desktop. They both have their pros and cons. I have never had a problem with viruses or freezing on either computer. In terms or reliability, I would choose my mac any day (I’ve had blue screen crashes on my pc while using Word).

ziggaziggazagman Gravatar

After posting my last comment I started reading some of the other posts. I can’t believe how much anger some of you harbor for Mac users! The sweeping generalizations and unfounded insults of anyone who owns a Mac are ignorant. I have been buying Macs and PC’s for over a decade and quite frankly, Macs are better for a number of things. They are not just “status symbols,” and to insinuate that all Mac users are just “rich yuppies trying to look cool” is very narrow minded. Yeah some Mac users are rich dick heads that just browse the web, But open your eyes if you think that everyone with a mac is “just trying to look cool,” reality is passing you by.

mac’s do get viruses, why do people think that they don’t and why did apple lie about it? it’s less common for mac to get a virus than a pc but that’s only because fewer people use macs.

Anyone who tries to convince another that a consumer product is better to the extent that not choosing such a product deems them inferior, especially when joined with the notion that the speaker will gain no profit from the decision of the would-be-buyer, is simply misguided and lacks imagination. I think the argument similar to two carpenters of the 1800’s bickering over which smithy to purchase a hammer from.

I really enjoyed this article as you stated your opinion with an unbiased view of the products. You focused on the behavior of people who covet their possessions and not of the possessions themselves. I found this list in a search after nearly puking myself watching that movie “Macheads” on Hulu.

I switched from a Windows to a Mac, and I love my Mac. But that doesn’t mean I condemn all PC users. I mean, yeah, Windows and Mac are specialized is different things. I must admit, Macs are easier to use, and fast in start ups and shut downs. But Windows are still good for gaming. I think these ‘fanboys’ are stupid.

I like how you Mac guys are saying that your old PCs always crashed…maybe that was because you didn’t take care of them or use them correctly. My PC broke (and NO it was not the system the actual computer wouldn’t charge. It was a really cheap model. It is nothing to do with the system) so my dad let me borrow his mac. I’ve had it 1 week and it’s already crashed more times than my crappy PC model. Also it’s around £1000 for the cheapest model you can get. You can get a PC with the same features and more for a lot less.

Oh and you know PC get more viruses than macs (Yes I agree they do get more, anyone who doesn’t clearly doesn’t know anything) But did any of you mac lovers ever stop to think why. It’s simply because PCs are a lot cheaper. Families who don’t have much money want a computer, right? Do you really think they can afford a mac? So of course they buy a PC, but with out any virus protection. So they get a virus. People who have macs must have a lot of money (no offense to anyone) so they will get an anti-virus package. AND WON’T GET A VIRUS. Also no matter what anyone tells you there are more PC users out there.

Also if ‘They don’t get viruses’ and ‘It looks nice’ then they can’t be that good can they. It’s like models. Looks nice but has no personality and doesn’t really do anything else.

i would just like to say stop comparing the mac to vista because even in pc circles everyone says vista was shit and completely useless so thats why everyone who could stayed on with xp because it was much better and windows 7 is also quite good as well once you get used to it.

as someone above me has also said the reason why people get viruses on windows is because they are idiots and havnt installed a good anti virus system. on this i would also say that one of the reasons why people dont get viruses on macs is because nowhere near as many people use macs as they do pcs so why write a virus to piss off or profit off of the small number of people who have macs. on the same reasoning i could also say that linux doesnt get any viruses either for the same reason.

games are also another example of how popular pcs are over macs because the reason why game companies dont always cater to macs is because not enough people use them making it a waste of money. would be like catering to linux again

in business as well you will find that there are fuck ton more companies that use windows over macs for ease of use and that nearly everyone in that company will have used a windows computer at some point in their lives. on top of that you will also get IT admins (like my brothers) who would most likely use linux because its its opensource and mac controls all the content on their systems.

so i would consider windows to be for everyone who would like a computer since its easy to learn and can do anything that a mac can do if not better in some areas and is most probably easier to sort out if it has a problem due to its popularity.

linux for people in the IT business and people who know enough about to computers to potentially learn a computer language

and macs for everyone else (i.e. no one)

where do you get downloadable movies online?:~`

This is a wonderful web site. Good clean UI and nice enlightening blogs. I will be coming back in a bit, thanks for the great blog.

I don’t hate Macs, just the elitist idiots who worship them.

I sell photo equipment, and of the last twenty people who asked if a particular item will work with their computer, guess how many of them had Macs? All of them! Yet they all think that the Mac is superior. I’ve had numerous customers literally say “my mac is PERFECT”. one told me “I LOVE my mac: it learns from me every day”!

Apple is a lifestyle decision for these poor souls. They wouold never say “my computer”, it’s always “my mac”. If you had a mechanic who said “hand me my SNAP ON wrench”, or a friend who always said things like “I’ve got to run to the store in my LEXUS” or a photographer who always said ” I just took a picture with my NIKON”, you would recognize what pretentious snobs they were. Same with mac heads.

And I don’t need a consultant to use my computer. It’s a tool, not a lifestyle decision!

i always download movies from rapidshare, bittorrent and sometimes on video sharing sites.’`:
