Tips for playing Texas Holdem In Atlantic City Or Vegas
Posted August 8th, 2007 by Ron Filed Under: UncategorizedOk I’m not a pro texas holdem player, I havent played in any of the major televised tournaments but I have been playing texas holdem for a few years now; between home games and sit and go games in Atlantic City. Not to toot my own horn but I usually finish first or second in the home games and I usually walk away fro the game in A.C. ahead so with that being said I have some tips and I will release them here.
OK for the most part these tips aply for your game in A.C. or any other actual casino venue but feel free to try to apply them towards your home games as well. First off when playing in the casino I strongly reccomend that you sit at a $1, $2 no limit table. A 1,2 no limit table is a table where the blinds are 1 and 2 dollars. So the most money you can lose deciding not to see a flop is $2 if your a big blind.
Now when sitting at a $1 $2 no limit table I like to get a feel for the other players by passing on quite a few of the hands I’m dealt right off the bat. Now my reasoning for this is to try to establish the way the other people play at the table. I dont want to jump into a hand against a player who I cant get a read on.
There are also a couple of tells that I’m going to share with you. These kinds of tells are no secret but there are some people who dont look for them and/or know of them. If a player leans back into his chair after he as made a bet or call it is usually a sign of confidence or strength in the hand. If a player puts his hand under his nose over his mouth after he has made a bet or call it is usually a sign of weakness in the hand or a bluff tell.
Pocket cards are great pre flop your going to want to raise preflop for a couple reasons but not too huge a raise either. The reasoning behind raising preflop is to get a couple callers but for the most part you get at least half the table to fold. And when playing your pocket pair be careful because there are many ways to crack a pocket pair believe it or not pocket aces are usually cracked the most.
Bluffing during the game is also a good stratagey. The best thing to do if you’ve successfully bluffed a hand is show off that you bluffed this will create confusion with the other players making it harder for them to pick up on your play style. If you only play only good hands the other players will pick up on it and not play you.
Now the best tip of them all is no when to say enough is enough. In A.C. at the sit and go tables you can leave whenever you want, so play it smart and if your up and feel good leave and if your down and only going further down leave theres nobody forcing you to stay. well thats just a few tips or pointers if you will. Use them if you like maybe it will help your game
