Staten Island - Enough is Enough!
Posted January 28th, 2008 by Anthony Filed Under: UncategorizedThis post is not normal for us GB writers, but the situation is getting out of hand at what is happening in the wealthiest borough of New York. Day in and day out Staten Island, especially the SI Mall is becoming infested with unruly disrespectful teens. Times are changing and the people of Staten Island are fed up,and the city government take little action.
Don’t get me wrong the NYPD is spread thin on Staten Island and can’t cover as much ground as they need be. We are in desperate need of another Precinct. But the city government can do something to help alleviate the situation and get the Curfew Law passed. Parents should also learn how to raise their children and teach them to be respectful instead of being brats and animals.
Case in point. When these teenagers are dropped off at the SI Mall their parents think its a good babysitter for them. There should be a curfew applied to the SI Mall that doesn’t allow children under the age of 18 there after 5pm. The businesses in the mall are hurting do to the adults not wanting to shop because of the unruly teenagers. There are at least an average of 3 to 5 fights a week at the SI Mall and the weeks that school is out during the winter that number almost doubles. Just tonight a woman came in with a metal bat and started swinging it because someone she knew was “supposedly” going to be jumped. The sock stand on the upper level was damaged and an older woman that accompanied the woman with the bat was injured. EMT came to take her to the hospital. On top of it all the woman was not arrested. I don’t now the law very well but isn’t that an attempted assault with a deadly weapon or at least arrest her for damaging private property.
This can all be prevented if you goddamn lazy parents would raise your kids right and if the city took action and instituted a curfew system, especially for the SI Mall. Im sick and tired of seeing what animals these kids are becoming, and I know for a fact it is a lot worse then when I was growing up.
Staten Island is no longer the wealthiest borough, it is now known as the wealthiest ghetto.
Any concerned islanders can contact the Borough President here and General Growth Properties (GGP owner of the SI Mall) here.
