Sirius Over Slingbox

Posted June 21st, 2007 by Anthony Filed Under: Uncategorized

I was sitting in my car the other day, and I was wishing there was some way for me to enjoy Sirius anywhere I go (with better reception then the stiletto). And then an idea hit me. Hook my Slingbox up to my Sirius radio and enjoy Howard Stern anywhere I go using my smart-phone.

Now as simple as this is to setup, there are some drawbacks. You can’t change the station and your no longer going to get your TV on your phone anymore, also its going to cost you an extra $7 a month for your extra Sirius receiver.

But the first problem is easily fixed with a little pleading to Sling to add IR support for satellite radio units. The second problem can be solved in two ways. You can either buy another Slingbox, or as far as I know, buy the Slingbox Pro for additional inputs which you can switch between. An added bonus is that the Slingbox Pro is currently on sale for $179.

Now as far as paying for the second receiver, there is no way around that, but its worth it if you love listening to Howard Stern or any other Sirius Channel anywhere you go.
