Open Letter to Capcom
Posted October 14th, 2007 by Anthony Filed Under: UncategorizedHere is the first in a series of 3 letters to different companies that I am writing confessing my desires and what is hopefully on the rest of your minds too.
Capcom has recently been in the video game news for its lack of support for the PS3. I for one don’t frankly believe that this is just facing PS3 owners, but all Capcom fans on every console.
Dear Capcom,
You were once a beloved video game developer in the eyes of many. Though within the last 7 years the games that made us fall in love with you have been non existent or just plain lacking.
Ryu where are you? Where has one of your best franchises disappeared to. Street Fighter and our other favorite 2D fighting games have fell off the face of the earth. We all love those games yet we haven’t seen a new fighting game from you in the U.S. in like 2 years (and that Darkstalkers game for the PSP wasn’t that great).
We miss the action and the fun of games like Marvel vs. Capcom and the Alpha series. Bring them back, make them online playable and take advantage of a hand-held like the DS. We would love to have our favorite characters jumping from screen to screen fighting each other.
And you can’t tell us that there is a lack of gamers wanting to play those types of games. Just search for Mugen on Youtube and you will see what has been developed to keep our minds stimulated why we wait for you.
Resident evil though is one of the only franchises that I’m suffice to say has not lacked over the years. But another franchises of yours that we all know and love has in my opinion hit rock bottom.
What did you guys do to Mega Man. The originals were great, the first 3 Mega Man X games were amazing. After that though something happened. The X series lost its luster, and these battle network style games made me never want to play a Mega Man game again. Now you did bring an interest back in to my eye when you released the Zero games for GBA and then NDS, but the story lines were extremely bad. What made me even hate the games more was that you changed the pick your level option. I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t want to go through an HQ and talk to people like in an RPG and move to the next area. I just want have a plain old original Mega Man pick your boss character and teleport to that level. And above all the worst part about the Zero games is those stupid cyber elves. Stop making Megan Man into an action RRG and go back to your original 2D side scroller shoot ‘em up.
Now I know you are going to have an announcement soon, and the rumors we have heard say your bringing back 2D. But it better be the 2D games we want or something new and spectacular. Please please don’t let us down again and again.
Sincerely,
The Garysbasment Staff & millions of your loyal fans.
Now for those who don’t know what Mugen is, look for it on Youtube and check out the characters that people use in the game. Seeing Homer Simpson fight Peter Griffin is just plain awesome. I also here that there are Marvel and DC characters as well as many others. Check it out.

One could say that Capcom fighters have gone missing in action. Hopefully that will change soon.
