One of the best parts of doing Musical Monday is the ability to go back and check out some great music that I haven’t heard in a long time. Each and every week, I get to go through a long list, trying to figure out which song I deem worthy of such an honor. Well, this week, the song in our spotlight is a bit of a blast from the past (1969 release), but it has passed the test of time.
With some of the best guitar riffs, Norman Greenbaum saw his single “Spirit in the Sky” shoot as high as number 3 on the U.S. charts, and was number 1 in the U.K. Rolling Stone ranked it in the top 500 songs of all time, listing it at #333, while VH1proclaimed “Spirit in the Sky” number 85 on the list of top one hit wonders.
