It’s Time to Step Up

We got what we asked for. Every last bit of it. I for one, am ecstatic. When I heard the news that the Democrat majority was able to force a bill through the House of Representatives that mandated a troop withdrawal from Iraq, I jumped for joy. Finally, it’s over. Finally, we have seen the true colors of the left, and those colors aren’t red white and blue.

For the 218 representatives who voted to pass this bill, I have zero respect. These people gave General Paterus a unanimous vote of confidence to fight this war, but when it comes to supplying him with what he needs, the House has slapped him, and our soldiers, in the face. These 218 men and women have turned to our enemies and greeted them with open arms. They have looked evil in the eye and said “We will do all we can to help you.” A common enemy (President George W. Bush) has made them friends. This is nothing short of traitorous. For so long I refused to call a liberal unpatriotic. Today, I rescinded on that statement.

They (the House) know that the money will run shortly, but that hasn’t stopped them from playing politics with the lives of our soldiers, and the citizens of Iraq and America. They claim to want to see our troops safe, and that the safest place is home, so they wrote the troop withdrawal date into a bill. But Congress has no say in the military operations after giving the Commander and chief the authority to use it (which, by the way, they did). I pose this question to the House of Representatives, if you know that you have no right declaring a withdrawal date, and you know that it will be vetoed (as President Bush has all ready said), and you know that the money will run out in the next month or so (as Tony Snow has said), and you continue to say that this is for the troops safety, then why do you not give them what they need to be safe in the one place it’s most important? Why do you continue to play games, knowing what the result will be, and waste time in getting our troops the money they need for supplies, repairs and any necessary material? You people claim to support the troops, and I can’t think of a better way to support them then to deny our military what it needs.

This is not about being for or against the war. This is not Republican vs. Democrat (there was cross party voting). This is about doing your job. The House of Representatives has FAR overstepped it’s boundaries.

As a country, we have no one to thank but our selves. We asked for this, every little bit of it. America, I hope your happy. You got what you voted for, a time and money wasting Congress. Without the guts to flat out defund the war, the left will do what it can to make sure President Bush comes out of this as the bad guy. The leftists (and traitors) can say they did their job (although they didn’t) and that the President stopped the troops from getting what they need because of a Presidential veto. It’s their way of turning their backs on the troops, while still being able to sleep at night.

Don’t worry, N.B.C., the New York Times, and the remainder of the usual suspects will do their job. Brian Williams and Co. will lead the charge to demonize our President. Since the Democrats took over, President Bush has cracked under pressure from Congress and the media. But now, they have crossed a line. Now, President Bush stands defiant. As a country, we must stand behind him.

I for one, have an idea. I don’t know possible this is, so I will need your help. I say, if the Bendict Arnold 2.0’s in Congress want to waste our time and tax dollars, lets bypass them. Let’s start a fund. We can show our troops that while their government has turned their backs on them, we, the people, have not. All proceeds will go to the military, and I would assume all donations would be tax deductible. Since it’s money the government would have taken and wasted, let’s us it for what we want, and for what matters. Granted, we probably couldn’t raise enough, but it would be something, and it would send a message.
