It’s Finally Over
Posted February 5th, 2007 by AJ Filed Under:I no longer have to hear about this. Football is done. No more week long football highlights, no more freak of a human being, John Clayton, no more arrogant players. It’s all finally over.
See, the truth is, I hate football. I hate it with a passion. You send 2 teams on a big piece of grass, and tell them to fill an hour of “gameplay”. The action if you want to call it that, goes on for about 3 minutes a quarter. The point of the game is to run until there is no more room to run. But my favorite part may be how 400 pound men, who according to all doctors are completely unhealthy, are considered athletic. That’s a joke right?
Oh, and I hate Peyton Manning, which makes the Colts win even more painfull. The man thinks he is the greatest thing to happen to the sport. Why bother having an offensive coordinator, if Peyton is just going to switch the play 5 times before the snap. With the exception of his commercials (which, even I will admit, are pretty funny) I won’t have to see him anywhere near as much.
Hopefully, the weekly Terrel Owens updates are over as well. I don’t care about T.O. and his arrogance. No more situps in his driveway, and no more playing that clip every half hour.
Which brings me to what annoys me the most. When I turn on ESPNNews, I want to see the highlights of the games form the night before, and I mean ALL of them. Don’t give me 20 minutes of NFL, 5 minutes of MLB, and NBA, 2 minutes of “other sports”, 2:45 of commercials, and 15 seconds of hockey highlights.
Now, I get the count down until pitchers and catchers report (2 weeks I believe). Sports reporting is slowly taking the MTV route, and going away from game reporting. I don’t need 2 weeks worth of stories on Peyton Mannings thumb. I want highlights. This is a simple concept. I hope ESPN fixes it.

Good point about the MTV route. I suppose the problem is that there are so many ESPN channels that they have alot of time and space to fill and most of that time is full of “filler” programming - the sort of thing that is there just to waste time.
Go Mike and Eagles! Pummelling NY Giants is always so much fun
