As you all may know Spiderman 3 will be opening up in theaters across North America friday May 4th. Believe it or not however this may not be the only opening for Spiderman this year. Are you’re spidey senses tingling ? Well Broadway is all a tingle as rumors are flying of a Broadway musical adaptation of Spiderman.

News sources such as CNN and New York 1 have reported that Julie Taymor ( director/costume designer of The Lion King )is getting set to direct the project. Music and lyrics are going to be provided by U2’s Bono and the Edge. Supposedly casting is underway and readings are to take place sometime this summer. Unfortunatly there is no word on what the story for the show is going to be and no set opening date as of yet.

The web slingers jump to Broadway is a groundbreaking first for Marvel. It marks the first time one of their characters will be featured in a Broadway musical. It seems like nothing can stop Spiderman; he’s swinging his way across all mediums. As long as this franchise stays the money making machine that it is one can only ask whats next for Spiderman ?
