Are They Serious?

It took me a while to believe this, but it really did happen. It seems the brilliant David Ehrenstein decided to write an article for the L.A. Times entitled “Obama the ‘Magic Negro’”. I think my favorite part is that he cites “Wikipedia“.

Of course, this has sparked controversy. Who’s caught in the middle of it? None other than Rush Limbaugh. Makes perfect sense to me.

So Rush is known for his satire, and he wasn’t letting this one pass. At the bottom of this post is the song “Barack the Magic Negro”, as played by Rush, on his show.

Now I would understand everyone being upset with Rush if it was him that made this phrase mainstream. But it wasn’t. I’d also understand everyone being upset if this was malicious. Again, it wasn’t. So is there a reason Ehrenstein is given a free pass? Learn where to direct your anger, and don’t just jump down the throat of the nearest, or loudest, conservative.

This video was created for the Rush Limbaugh show, and was produced by Paul Shanklin. The voice is intended to be that of Reverend Al Sharpton.
